I am experimenting with different workflows using log and transfer. I have used Pro Res but when I go to preferences and try to select native I only get to choose between Pro Res and Pro Res HQ. Native doesn't show up in the dialog box as shown in the FCS whitepaper.

Strange, it does for me on about 8 different machines. Have you got the latest Pro Apps updates, the red quicktime component and the FCS red plugin installed?

Irri I checked out app requirements and discovered that not everything was up to snuff. IT loaded the appropriate versions and native appeared. Thanks for reminding me of the basics.

I'm having the same problem. Could you explain exactly what was done do get it to appear in the Preferences drop down window? Thanks

There is a whitepaper on the Red support page which documents working with Red in Final Cut Pro. The first page of the whitepaper states minimum application requirements necessary to work with Red material. I found that my version of FCP was too old and that I didn't have the correct version of Color and Compressor. It also provides that you have to have the right version of quicktime and you must have installed the Red Final Cut Studio Installer. All that stuff can be downloaded from the Red support page.
When I got the right software on the computer native showed up in the Log and Transfer preferences along with Pro Res and Pro Res HQ. (Click beside the Red plug in on Pro Res and you should get a dialog box giving you a choice between Pro Res, Pro Res HQ and Native.)
