  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Red Player - more info

that is RED RAY player---unless i am reading incoorectly...i see RED PLAYER as a new program that is bundled with RCX Pro version 13---NOT RED RAY PLAYER---which i presume to be some sort of 4k projection system or something.....in home entertainment.

Never mind... I see the distinction you are making now.

Yes.....wish i could have made it to NAB, but have to help consume cerveza in Mexico.....and a bit of work. but yes, i see so much coming down the info pipeline and not as much time on Reduser as i normally spend and almost information overload. But yes....RED PLAYER---WTF ? is it? i see no manual on it...so i tried. but i'm guessing some sort of quick player that may work on apple devices...??? so if we have rcx pro, mabye not necessary unless you just want to play r3d's without a bunch of stuff on the control panel?

RED PLAYER is a standalone (and much quicker to load) application for viewing R3D footage. It's a viewer/player only, but you can quickly send the clip over to REDCINE-X with the "Open in REDCINE-X" command in the File menu.

jep - it was actually overdue… with RED One you had proxies written in-camera so you were able to just use Quicktime for a quick check of your R3D files. When they dropped the in-camera proxy creation you had to load up RC-X or even "bigger" Software to view R3D files. With this viewer you get a quicker view without booting up the whole RC-X "suite" but still have many options that help you view your stuff (like zoom, debayer level for viewer)…

it's quite nice… although I must admit directly built in support at OS-level would be even better - but with the viewer we're pretty close… or at least closer. If homebody from RED would chime in maybe we'll get an exact/clear answer - the stuff above is just my interpretation.
