Hey Everyone,

I have a set of Red PL lenses/17-50 and need to go EF now. What are the options? Was planning on selling but would rather convert or use a simple adpater that didnt effect the quality/performance.

Is something like this possble with Red lenses?? (see video) He makes it look very easy on the Zeiss CP.2.

The CP.2’s have interchangeable mounts, so to convert each lens wouldn’t be near as easy. Maybe talk to Duclos, or other experts, to see what they could do. No idea what pricing would be for that, but most likely not cheap.

If you absolutely have to get rid of your PL Mount, there are some PL to EF adapters that could go on the camera. FotodioX makes one that’s available on B&H, but looks like it’s got mixed reviews. You could probably test it out, make sure it works, and return if it doesn’t. RPP and RPZ are relatively heavy though, so even if the mount worked, you’d want to use lens support.

Thanks man. Those CP.2s sure make it easy.

We made two versions for the RPPs:
One was EF mounts that replaced PL mounts
The other was special PL mounts that allowed for PL to EF adapter.
Contact me via the email below for more info on that custom modification

Thanks Jacek. Email sent.

Years ago, I had a RED 18-85 converted for use with a pl-ef adapter over at Duclos.
Previously, I had been assured the (fotodiox-ish) adapter would work OOB, but Matt looked at it for half a second before identifying that the rear of the RPZ needed to essentially be ground down to get to proper flange depth.
Quick, very reasonably priced, job later and everything was fine, but it wasn't as simple as just buying a mount adapter.

Thanks guys. looks like Duclos no longer does this. Have been talking to Jacek at Opitek.
