RED Party Pictures

"Point and shoot"???

"Point and shoot"???

So the fixed Scarlet will come with the(or a similar to?) dslr-style RedHandle?? That would be awesome. As digital pictures go mostly online anyway the 4.9mp 2/3" Scarlet would have more than enough resolution for regular(not meant for super large prints) pictures, and with it's autofocus it's easily the most kickass point and shoot ever made.

First, I don't think that there has been anything communicated to suggest that the fixed scarlet will come with a RedHandle. To the contrary, I believe it is a separate module to be added only if you want to (read pay for it).

Second, I think the images from the 2/3" sensor that have been shown already are too beautiful and can be only expected to improve. We'll see how the device responds in all sorts of situations but I think it's probably safe to say it will be among the best (the best!) at this resolution. But I kind of think the term "point and shoot" is just a tad of a euphemism. Maybe in the RED world it is, but ONLY in the RED world.

You can control the camera with either the REDmote or the Handle... might be other options also. The REDmote is wireless so you can control all the brains from your pocket if you wish.

Hi Jim,

what kind of battery Redmote used? long lasting and easy to change?

wow. those are amazing models. i just can't wait until release date.... and even then I probably wont be able to place an order.

I checked the renderings of the scarlets at red.com and I now noticed that the body of the fixed lens scarlet is indeed deeper (probably because of the "fly-by-wire" electronics)...

Now I definitely have to save more money so I can buy a Scarlet S35 :D

The S35 is definetely the sleekest thing...its a shame I'm going to end up towards the back of the queue as it looks like there will be a lot of buyers for the S35 haha...

How long do you think till release dates are announced and pre-orders are allowed for RED One users and then for outsiders?

Just wondering since these are old prototypes and they look pretty damn ready to go, just throw in the electronics and BAM! :sifone:

Yeah the fixed lens Scarlet is deeper to accommodate the fly by wire parts I believe.

Maybe but mainly because zoom lens is too long. Already disscused here with Jim couple month ago :)

Marien, the 2/3" fixed is indeed deeper due to the lens coming deep into the body and to accommodate additional electronics...
