Hey all,

I'm using MC 4 with the redrocket. I've got my footage into the AVID editing suite via conversion to DNXHD 36, and am well on my way to start editing.

What I don not know though, is how to go back to the red for online. I;ve read several posts on exporting an EDL but nothing beyond "export to edl and then uprez".

I'm more than likely going to go to an AVID DS NITRIS system for online.

Can anyone point me in the direction of clarity?

THanks

A Newb

That workflow is pretty much described in the Avid+RED workflow docs available on www.avid.com/red

In a nutshell for DS - export timeline as AFE. Create a DS timeline of the R3D resoluton, Import AFE into DS and to a conform to alternate sources and point to volume/directory of R3D fies.

Hi Michael !

Can you please give me a hint:

We edited a project on MC 4.0.5. I generated the MXF (DNxHD) offline files in redcine-x. I made the ALE with clipfinder... it provides not that much metadata then redcine-x does, copied the MXF files into the right folder at the Avid Mediafiles / MXF / 1 folder, relinked then the ALE in the Bin and had the offline files online in MC. Quite nice so far.
So I have a TAPE name there, TC start, and Unc as relinkable metadata there.
Could you help me with a step by step guide to relink a edited Sequence to the R3D files in MC 5.0.2 ???

My online workflow on edl and redcine-x mxf export via lua conversion works so far.... thx mikael lubtchansky for your scripts...

Can you give me please also an example how the settings in filmscribe must be for correct XML export....

That would be great

thx

Here's what Oliver Peters wrote me that worked for him:

4. Hide (or delete) Avid media and transcoded clips (you can hide these by renaming your Avid MediaFiles folders at finder level)
5. Relink sequence to AMA clips (must UNcheck "relink AMA by source file")
6. Change render settings to higher DNxHD and Full Debayer
7. Consolidate/transcode sequence with assigned handle lengths

HTH.

relink sequence to ama clips is the problem i think.

when i right click on the sequence the option "Relink to AMA File(s)" is grayed out. So it seems that there is a step between....

thx

Using Just MC5, is there a way resize the frame- like crop part of the 4k frame without losing quality? or am I stuck with the full frame?
