Good Day!

Serial 8424 is out of the box! I have a Panasonic BT-LH80WP connected to the Preview and it works fine except I cant see the camera menus at the bottom. I can see the menu title but the options are off the bottom of the screen (cut-off). I cant resize the display so is there anything in the Red One I can adjust?

Many thanks!

Thanks Gunleik. Is there a work around or alternate solution?

Alternate is buy a red 7" inch lcd if they have them or buy the small hd DP6 this will go from HDMI port but I am not sure but I believe you will lose SDI.

Just so I am understanding correctly, it is the port on the camera I have selected not the display that is the issue? Or is the RED lcd something special?

how I understand it

how I understand it

Gunleik- the guy is new to this and asking a legit question- isn't this community here to help? "something special" doesn't really help him in any way..
Anyway, to my understanding the red signal is an odd resolution in order to display menus below the live view- something like 1280x848.
The Red monitor firmware is tuned to scale it properly on the screen. In fact it is the only signal that Red monitors will recognize.
Since this signal is not SMPTE compliant the Pana will only display the compliant part i.e 1280x720 or so.. hence your menus are cut off.
Now some computer displays are more flexible and will scale it properly since they are designed to be more flexible with signal resolutions. But they are HDMI, and you'll lose your SDI out at this point.
I hope I got it right and was clear.
Good luck with the new baby!!!!:001_smile:

Thanks to both of you and yes the detail helps me to think this through...but wait, there is more! Now, reading the op guide more carefully, on page 10 it states that if the Red EVF and RED LCD is not present the full GUI overlay support is automatically enabled on the HD-SDI and HDMI outputs.

...and too answer my own comment based on what you fellas just taught me, if the output is at that same res, regardless of the port, it would still not allow me to see the info anyways I figure.

Have a good one!

Did you ever get this to work Robert? I have the same display and no matter what combination of setting on the Red I have tried will display the full GUI. Please pass on the step by step to make this work- if there is one.

Would an adapter cable that went from the Viewfinder out of the Camera (lemo) to the 15-pin Viewfinder input on the monitor make it all work? Does someone sell this cable?

not correct!

not correct!

The output for the Red LCD is 1024x600, is there any sort of custom scale option on your monitor?
That's confusing- Red LCD output is on the Lemo that's exclusive for Red camera. I don't think anybody has the guts to make custom cable and possibly fry the video board in the cam.

HDMI res

HDMI res

I believe that HDMI res is something like 1280x848(depending on in camera setting the output) and SDI being SMPTE compliant something like 1280x720. Since the EVF and LCD lemos are assigned I suspect that the LCD Lemo outputs 1024x600 and EVF port maxes out the device res at 1280x848.
It's easy enough to check the HDMI and SDI ports as most monitors would briefly display the signal resolution when you plug in the device. I'm pretty sure that the Pana does that...

So is the bottom line here that the only camera mountable field monitor that can display the Red GUI is the Red 5 & 7" (aside from the Red EVFs)?

not quite..

not quite..

Some computer displays will display the menus via HDMI as well.
There should be a thread or sticky with the specific models on this forum..

Red Monitor Outputs

Red Monitor Outputs

Never got it to work and I tried several combinations or outputs and displays of every type. I even tried setting the options to DVI menus with no results. So I am forced to believe there is no way to see the histograms or any of the assists unless you have a Red monitor of some sort, or a compliant one. I would be happy if I could just get that stuff on one display and the image on a seperate!

...and yes I am waiting as both are on back order and I cant really shoot without them.

Cheers!

I never got menus to SDI outputs.
Even via HDMI converted to DVI I can only get a picture on a handful of computer monitors (some Eizos, for example) because of the odd pixel size. Most monitors expect standard HD sizes (i.e. 1080 or 720 with square pixels in 16 by 9) via HDMI.
