Red One upgradeability question [upgrade possible, price/date unknown]

[Hrvoje Simic]

Does Red One hardware upgradeability option still stand ?

Sensor, body, boards...or is this now only an option for Epic ?

[cinemano]

good question.. want to know too.. maybe red one will get 5k sensor upgrade but not 100 fps.. would be fair

[Gunleik Groven]

Yup, according to Jim...

Yes, Jim discussed this very issue with me the afternoon, once EPIC has been finalized there will be an upgrade available to the RED-ONE camera.

I suspect there is a limit to what can be upgraded in the RED One before you're just wasting your time.

I assume the Epic will have new chips and hardware. And while it might be possible to shoehorn that into the RED One, there's presumably going to be a point at which it's just not worth it. I'd guess there will be a range of upgrades available for RED One, but there'll be a line in the sand where it's just not sensible to keep upgrading that, and instead it's necessary to move to the next model up.

Cool, thanks Stuart.

Can I upgrade my EVF or shall I wait till I get it first :bleh:

[Paolo Tinari]

Would you finish build 16 before finalizing Epic than upgrading Red One?
Sorry but i live now.
