I've made some research but haven't found anything. Did someone try to do some rehousing stuff with the Red One ? Now they're going for a few K, it could be a steal for some aerial setup or light B-cam!But I don't exactly know what to except inside the body, and I didn't find anything related to pictures of the inside. Just about the Epic.

Almost certainly isn't worth it, what with super lightweight cameras like the Epic, Scarlet, and Blackmagic.

I just want them to suddenly uncover a way to shove a Dragon sensor inside the brawny body.

I really wish that there could be one last upgrade path for the last of us that have RED's Ones. I think, at least for me, given the opportunity all of us would trade it in for a Scarlet. Or like Stephen said, find some way to upgrade.

Not sure what could really be done to go from the R1 design to a new body other than a carbon fiber version like they used on The Social Network. And I'm not sure if it's ever been said whether that worked out perfectly or not. My guess is that there's a reason why the body is the size that it is because the hardware at the time needed it.

As to adding a Dragon or changing some boards to make it an Epic, my suspicion is that there is far too much that would have to change inside the R1 body including all of the boards, cooling system, etc. Even if it could be done, I'm pretty sure RED wouldn't consider doing it because they have other pressing issues to deal with. What you might see in the future is a model that is more streamlined but right now I just don't see them going back to R1 at all, I think all eyes are on the future.

Thanks for your input! It was not about the size : Of course the " block " is full of pcb/electronics. It was just about the weight and the value for the price. I already own a CNC and some tools to do some custom fiber carbon piece, it's why this might be a cheap solution.

To answer about the scarlet, it's something to put 3k in the air on a drone, it's another to put 10k (Europe, 20% TVA). And a little in the spirit " Why ? Beause we can. ".

It just breaks my heart to sell my Red One to buy something like a blackmagic 4k just because of the weight.
