  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I think my sensor has a problem, in highish ASA say 800+ I get really bad grain and lines

What do you think?

I guess you've tried blackshading and everything already? Is this directly after boot or does it change in any way over some running time (when "working-temperature" is reached)?

Yes I have. There are visible lines running down the screen in FCPx and CINEPRO, presumably the fans kick in when temp is reached so yes.

I had it on RC28. but I will crank it and upload some more pics if that will help.

Maybe it is me, I have finally come from Film to Dig and I think I have some jitters about the whole affair, everything including workflow is so much different!

Thanks

The image you showed is so small, and so harshly exposed that it would be hard to tell what's truly a sensor problem from what's just an artifact of compression or bad exposure. You'll know when you have a sensor problem, as you'll have actual, very strongly visible black lines running vertically through your image (which we experienced twice before). I don't think it's a sensor issue.

Maybe I am being a little over sensitive.

The reason the image was oe was down to the fact I cranked up the asa in CINEPRO to really pronounce the effect.

I have recalibrated it since and I have shot some test footage, seems ok.

I guess it is always the same, you get something new (well new to me) and assume that there is a problem.

I miss film :( I realise that this is me being a dinosaur but I knew where I was with film, I have read, and reread the manual, had a whole lesson from Zoran, but am probably just suffering from the jitters.

Thanks for your responses, There are no clear black lines there were several lines but these were within the shot and ran with the pixels, they seemed to go after calibration! Also the grain I expect in low light no different to film, but I thought there may be a problem with the bayer filter, in retrospect I do not think so.

Hello I had the exact same thing happen to me. but I realized the lens cap was off when I did black shading...You cant let in any light or that will happen. Try upgrading to or re-installing the latest firmware then do the black shading
