I think it's virtually guaranteed more BT Reds will be coming through Red eventually. There is still a spot for the Red One on their website, yet you can't order any.

Yet.

i hope it's soon.

I'd suspect this will only happen if RED are still accepting R1s as trade-ins for a Scarlet or Epic, and I'm not sure if they're still accepting trade-ins anymore.

remember that BTs were available to new customers all over the world.. I bet a lot of them went to India, China, Australia, and Europe.. the bargain price also greatly lowered the import duty costs in those parts of the world for pro gear.
This means studios and rental houses could (don't know how many did) pick up multiple bodies..
I wonder how many were traded in to begin with. Anyone on here willing to guess?

I doubt You will see anymore R1s for sale, I just hope they will service them for some years to come (obsolescence obsolete ?). I think that the radical pricing policies are actually
designed to mess with the competitors, the unanswered question is if Red will support their products in 5 years and beyond. I bought a BT because neither the bomb evf or the
7" LCD worked correctly on the Epic, plus the R1 was designed for motion picture.

Rolf, That is a GOOD question, I have been wondering about that for a long time. I hope they continue to support the RED ONE since many of us, actually thousands, of us have them. The RED ONE is a very robust camera and we can only hope that future firmware updates will be developed so these cameras can continue to produce the best images for our clients. I too like the RED ONE for its design and do like the design and construction of the RED ONE better myself. Its much more suited to the kind of sets Im on personally. The EPIC & SCARLET designs are really cool and innovative but they have their place and the RED ONE has its own spot on a heavier constructed robust design when a smaller DSLR style camera just wont due. I AM A FAN OF BOTH, HOWEVER!!

If I were a guessing man... and I am... I would guess the next big BT thing might be BT Scarlets after RED decides it is cheaper to offer some sort of trade-in towards an Epic Dragon rather than trying to put new guts into the current Scarlet to make it at best, a Draconian Dragon Scarlet.

I remember reading a post or an article saying that R1s will not be available from Red anymore but they will continue to service them and sell the accessories for a period of time. I'll try and find a link to the post.
