Hello Redusers

Last night i was shooting a music video on the red one mx and randomly when i pressed the record button to stop recording stopped responding and i had to shut it down. When i checked the clips they were completely gone. Not only that a clip prior that seemed to have been shot properly was also lost. Any ideas what the issue could be?

With Red One/MX, the default was to make camera proxies. If your takes are very long, this process (which happens after pressing the record button to stop recording) can take longer than expected, especially with the slower Red Drives. This process is usually indicated by the Record dot and timecode on the display going yellow instead of red in colour. When the process is finished the dot disappears and the timecode display goes white.

If the camera is still trying to access the drive when you shut down then you can lose the clip or more because the table of contents/index can get corrupted. Try turning off the option to make camera proxies (you can always make them later in Redcine-X), which will at least eliminate it as a possible cause of your problem.

Do raise a Support Ticket with Red too.
