Hello all, everything is on the title, is there a difference between a Red one Mx and a red one M upgraded to Mx?

The body of these 2 cameras isn't the same right?
The M upgraded to Mx is bigger and heavier than the real Red one mx, am i wrong?

And even if the sensor is now the same, is there a difference in term of capabilities (maybe the original Mx delivers a cleaner image than the M upgraded to Mx)?

I don't know at all, that's why i'm asking..

Thanks for your help all, it's pretty important..

The bodies are identical. Red One M upgraded to MX is just an earlier version that was upgraded to the new version MX sensor from the original M sensor. There is no difference between the two.

Thanks for your reply Matt, that's what i thought, but just like the red epic Vs red one Mx, the sensor is the same but the image delivered is a bit different, i thought that maybe it was the case between The Mx vs the M upgraded to Mx..

About the body, i've noticed a bit difference between these 2 versions, if someone who had both can confirm or not..

Thanks again for your reply Matt, i really appreciate

The body of the RED One MX and RED One M are the same. Not all RED One MX cameras will have laser etching/badging indicating it is an MX. Specifcially, the Mysterium-X badging was etched on the CF module, if the owner had an SSD module attached instead, there is no MX badging visible on the body at all. So they are not always distinguishable by looking at a powered down camera.

SSD module looks different than the CF module. Both of them work with either RED One or RED One MX, but the camera will look different with a different (user replaceable) module attached. Perhaps that is what you are seeing.

Thanks Mark, but it wasn't about de SSd and Sf module (which i knew about), but about the curve-angle between the SSd-cf part, and the other one (where there is a red button), the red one is more "curvy", and on the mx it is more "angly", it's pretty difficult to make myself clear without a draw, and maybe is it about the point of view of each photos, it's hard to say, let's trust each other, if you tell me that it is the same camera, i believe you, thanks Mark

Same camera, buy the better deal.

Get the upgraded MX RED ONE its worth it.

Sorry to rehash, but I was curious also.

Tony, I had read somewhere that the MX sensor is better in low light (I am not exactly sure how much) better color rendition and less green skin tones. I also read that the noise out of the MX sensor looks more like film grain that the clunky, chunky noise out of the RED One M sensor. Unfortunately, I cannot confirm this myself...these are just things that I've read.

I'd be interested to hear from someone who spent some time with the original M sensor and then upgraded to the MX sometime later.

Thanks all :)
