Hello REDusers,

I've shot BMCC MFT for several months before, now I've switched to RED ONE MX, and encountered some problems, I'd hope to solve soon ;)

1. I want to program the user function keys to activate focus peaking (button 1) and false color: exposure (red and purple pixel areas)
Both of them are items of the same submenu (false color: focus and false color: exposure) , and I can't assign them both to user programmable buttons in KEYMAP. Is there a way to fix it?

2. I have a 320gb reddrive, but no redstation to copy files to my system. I've tried to connect the reddrive via mini usb , but it doesn't work. Former owner transferred the data via firewire, but I don't have firewire connection on my system. Any suggestions ?

3. Can I make a template of settings for slow-motion (shutter, varispeed, 2k 2:1) to be able to recall it with one command? and change it fast back to 4k 24fps?

4. Do You all shoot at film-recommended 24fps 1/48sec settings ? I found those settings make my (for example) panning clips "choppy", the image isn't that smooth like we all see in feature movies. Any ideas? Departures form well known principles ?

any suggestions welcome, thank You in advance ! ;)

Hey Konrad,

set one of your user keys to "MULTI". This will cycle through all the false color modes on a single user key.

No need for a RED station. You need the drives power supply when powering with usb.

Try using the A, B, C buttons. You can program them to pages in the menu just like a car radio.. press and hold on the page. I did this quite a bit. I would set "A" to the project "CONFIGURE" page, then "B" to the "VARISPEED" page, and throw the shutter mode in "RELATIVE".

I'm mostly 23.98 180. Gotta just watch those pan speeds on certain focal lengths.. nature of the beast. :)

have fun!

Thank You.
For TV productions I would set it up to 25fps, and 24 for web, is that right ?
I found an ordinary 12v ac adapter and the reddrive works fine.

cheers;)

Is it possible to move the zoom rectangle to check focus on other image parts (not only in the middle) ?

+1. That would have been a great idea. Presets.

The amount of time, usually in a hurry, I need to jump from 4k, 25p to 2k 100p, and back again.
Jumping around the menu takes ages, just to grab a quick shot, and jump back to 4K.

And thanks Nate, those are some good tips. Didn't think to keep shutter on relative, was always changing it manually.
