Red one mx firmware question

Is build 31 still okay? I found a great deal on a red one mx package 16XX hours, with a good deal of extras and case for around 2700$ only problem is the firmware is only on build 31
and he doesn't have ownership. Is that an actual issue? Should I stray away? Or go for it for the price?

You mean he bought it without doing transfer of ownership? I would check the serial # with RED, make sure it's not flagged, just to be safe.

Build 31 is fine but you won't have RC2, RC3, or REDLog Film. There are also bug fixes and they added support for the 512GB Mags.

in any case... I believe now you can download the latest firmware as long as you create a red.com account (that was changed some time back). more importantly just check to make sure it's not a stolen camera.

If it's legit, you can probably arrange transfer of ownership if you can contact the original owner of record - so make sure you get that contact info off the current owner.

Transfer of ownership (without Red inspection & recertification) is now free I hear.
