Hi,
We have been using our Red one with Ziess Standard Primes T2.1 with PL mount and Cooke Zoom 25-250 Pl mount with our red without any problem.

Now we are using the same camera with Zeiss Ultra Primes with PL mount. but the DOP is feeling that the mount is little loose and the lens tend to fall a little bit due to its weight.
What could be the reason?

Can any one help me on this ?

Im not sure i understand what youre asking? Do you mean he thinks the weight of the Ultra is pulling the mount away from the body? What support do you use for your cooke zoom?

Hi,
The DOP feels that the lens is not fitting properly into the RED PL mount and is loose and due to weight of the Ultra Primes the lens tends to hang downwards.

Hi,
The Cooke Zoom was supported with the support ring that came with it on
24" rods and universal mount.
In case that has happened then what to do ?
Please help.

You said it was supported by a "universal mount".
Do you mean the RED Universal Mount?

Okay.... As you said earlier, you are using the support that came with your Cooke zoom. The RED Universal mount is not a lens support. The height is different from any industry standard support. This may be your problem.. It's possible that you've stretched out the mount with such a heavy lens creating stress from using the RED Universal mount as a lens support.
Big lenses require a "low-bridge" that conforms to the Arri standard.
This is a very specific height and supports the weight of the lens properly.
As I mentioned earlier, I'm sure that any of the fine REDUser Sponsors can help you with a low bridge.

Hi,
Thks for your reply. But what could I do with the Red mount and where can I get the low bridge for my Cooke Zoom lens.

Abel sells standard low bridge supports such as the ARRI LS-9. If you really want to use the RED universal mount you will need to get a long 3/4" bolt and backcut it so that it can pass through the mount and then sit captive without coming into actual contact with the threads. Then it can screw into the support foot on the lens without cross threading. Finally you will need a nut to screw up against the base of the support foot so that you are not putting all the weight on the thin threads of the bolt.

Honestly, it's not a good way to go. The proper low bridge is only a few hundred dollars and will do the job perfectly every time. Using the Universal Mount will be a task every time and you may not be properly supporting at all. It's not worth it.

Hi,
I will purchase the item as suggested.
But what should I do with the RED Camera's own mount....?

At this point I would say that you may have pulled the lens mount out of planarity with the sensor. It will likely need to go back to RED for service.

I would suggest trying as many PL lenses as you can just to make sure it really is the mount on the camera that is the problem.
If so, I guess you would contact RED for repairs.
Can't think of anyone else who does repairs....
