Red One Kit, serial number 427, was collected friday, on December 4th, from our facility in Århus, Denmark for dry hire by a company called "TD-kompagniet" in Copenhagen. It was due back Sunday, December 6th. We have yet to see it, and are unable to get in touch with the hirer. If anybody is offered a Red One matching this number for sale could you please get in touch me on this number +4541195777 or send me an email : thecompany@thecompany.dk

The following have been stolen:
RED body numer 427
RED 300mm lens
RED 18-50mm lens
RED 50-150mm lens
RED charger
RED batteries x2
ARRI MB 20 mattebox + ND filters
RED Drives x 2

The equipment was packed in two black Peli-cases.

The same weekend "TD-kompagniet" in Copenhagen "rented" two Sony XDCAM ENG-sets from another rental house here in Aarhus,
one Sony PDW-700 XDCAM HD camera (number 60602), and one Sony PDW-800 XDCAM camera (number 10485)
+ some lenses - these cameras was never returned - just like our RED never was returned.

If you hear anything about RED number 427 - please call me.

Thank you for your help.

That sucks Claus! If it makes its way to Istanbul I will let you know. Hopefully, you will recover it very soon. We have a pretty strong community here on Reduser.net. Don't give up hope.

They're probably in Mexico by now without the hope of the gear ever being sold on the open market.
Start planning now and get your insurance company on the phone.
Best wishes.

why on earth would it be in Mexico? Not that i'm offended, but that's half a world away. I'd think it would be in same place it was stolen or make it's way to a closer market. Not that this helps the OP. But broad statement it's in mexico is uh....strange. guess i can't see many of my mexican compatriots with a red in their hands. Only a select few as having gear in Mexico is a legally complicated prospect and full of paperwork.

Claus, please email your RED BOMB SQUAD rep with this info so we can note in our systems.

In the standard def age, many cameras stolen from Canada had purportedly made their way far south to Mexico. This according to police when I suffered a similar incident.

Notice they mentioned Sony cameras stolen in addition to Red. Don't be offended by broad generalizations. Cars from Canada end up in Russia.
Half a world away.

Claus,
So sorry to hear about this.

As a small rental house, we like to support productions from up and coming photographers and productions, so this is something to be very aware of.

If we see anything, will let you know.

Sorry to hear this bad news, Claus.

That is why I only rent my equipment to people I know, productions I'm on myself or through a reputed rental house.

I hope you're insured or able to get your camera back.

Is it possible for the firmware updates to recognise the serial number and disable the camera?

Can't imagine a stolen RED to make it's way far into any larger productions than a family video without someone taking notice at some point of the serial number or lack of a serial number if it's removed. And, not going to get far with any service down the line either i'd imagine.

as for in mexico....well, a matter of pure conjecture as police often use Mexico as a broad stroke of the brush where stolen items in CA. end up. Reality probably is they don't end far from where they were stolen. Value has to be worth the transport i'm sure. My macpro notebook was lifted at starbucks in venice beach, ca. broad daylight as i stood to order my coffee. cops said forget it....they get these calls 20x a week. never will you get it back. ends up usually in same neighborhood or in a hackers hands trying to pry info.

HOpe you filed police reports etc...so that one day if it ever surfaces and a AC is paying attention....justice might be served.
But who the hell would buy a hot RED knowing the small community etc...? would have to be an idiot.
