I received a question from fellow Japanese broadcast worker.

They have been shooting some explosion footage on RED ONE with 120fps, and they are noticing some block noise on the fast moving dirts.
Did anyone have same experiences?

I have no answer because I have never shot an explosion.

Above 90 fps in 2k on the red one has been broken for a while, It's unclear whether it is fixed or not. Red won't comment on it. It behaves exactly as you describe. It is often difficult to see on playback, which is why it is crucial to have someone reviewing the footage on a computer when shooting slow mo stuff.

Hi Nick,

Thank you for your input, I had some issues recording at 3K 60p on RED Flash and the latest beta build was said to fix that problem, but do you think the latest beta build fix the 2K 120fps issue, too?

I use the camera at 120fps a lot on this project Im working on now and have the latest build and don't notice any problems you are describing but Im not shooting explosions just coconuts being thrown and breaking so a big difference in my subject matters speed of explosions but still haven't seen any problems.
