Just posted a few uncut and ungraded shots from our last shoot. It's for the upcoming Parc Asterix ad for next year. We hooked our R1 on the ride and used CF. We have hours of rushes at various speeds and not one single dropped frame. We also did a lot of aerial photography. Check it out here (it's password protected for copyright protection):

Liked the footage. Did you use any sort of steadycam type device when mounted to the Rollercoaster POV or Heli angle? Wondering if you if you had any issues with vibration affecting the image (rolling shutter.) Just curious as I sometimes have issues when filming on sticks in heavy winds....which seems like much less vibration than the rollercoaster footage you posted. Also, what lens was used for the Rollercoaster POV. Thanks.

We didn't use any anti-vibration system on the roller coaster stuff. It was just strongly attached, very very strongly, on a modified tubed car rig style system. Sometimes, the camera angle had moved during the ride from the 3G push...

The aerial shots had a remote controlled anti-vibration 3D head... No issues whatsoever!

The lens used was our Peleng fisheye. A 400$ lens bought on eBay!

I'd like to know more about the remote controlled anti-vibration 3D head you used for the aerial shots. What kind of balloon and how large? By the shadow in one of the shots it looks like a weather balloon.

Gee, when I saw the title, I thought this was another post about the Epic release. LOL!

That is one sick rollercoaster. very nice footage -- I'd love to see it cut & graded.

Great shots. Using a mini blimp was a great idea. Very smooth and gorgeous angles. May I ask about some of your camera settings?

Thanks for sharing the footage here. Really cool stuff.

Thanks, were now rendering hours of footage, our Mac has been on for 2 weeks non stop, and will be for another 2 weeks I think... We'll post the finished stuff as soon as it's done! I hope the rollercoaster footage makes it in the 2010 Red reel!!! :blush5:

You're welcome! We shot 4KHD 25fps since it's meant for TV here, some was shot 2K 100fps too...

All with Red zooms, both 18-50mm and 50-150mm, a Peleng fisheye and the Red 300mm as well...

We used lots of ND's, and there's plenty more images to come.

Forgot to mention some shots were stabilized in FCP too. The result is so much better even if it was pretty smooth already... We stabilized some of the 1st shots on the reel but lacked time to do them all for the preview delivery... The next cut will be much better. It's a WIP...
