I'm thinking about seeing if I can secure the funds to shoot my next feature (or a future feature) on the RED ONE. I'm trying to see how much money to allow in my budget if I were to shoot for 20-25 days. I've been looking at rental houses, but I have no idea what is "needed" with a red package to shoot a feature film. I'm used to smaller cameras, without changeable lenses or many "extras". What does one need in a package to shoot a feature film on the RED?

1200-1500 per day for a functional package to make images, with lower end lenses and basic lower end IT/data backup and monitoring. Basic support included, but only sticks. That price generally does not include an operator, in some markets that price can include an operator - and you need a red experienced operator.

For better lenses add $$.

For better on set monitoring, dailies, backup and reviewing, add $$ and a dedicated person.

Thanks guys, that helps a good bit. So I'm probably looking more towards actually hiring a operator with a RED vs. just renting a RED and hiring an operator.

$2000 a day is fair here in Montreal with operator and a resaonable low-end lens kit, like Canons plus Birger mount. This is not for a superstar DP, but a competent operator with experience.
