Hi Red Team, can anyone confirm that the read speed of the MX sensor is in fact the 5m/s Jim talked about with the current release build for the MX?

thanks very much
Colin

Jim has stated that they are currently using a slower read-reset time during this calibration period of the sensor. This hasn't been changed yet, to my knowledge. From midway through March:

We have temporarily rolled back the clock speed (read-reset time) for the M-X upgrade cameras to work on several issues... calibration being one. As soon as we fix all the "stuff" we'll roll up the clock speed again. As of today's build, you will get skew "slightly better than the M sensor". Soon, that will go back to where it was when we showed M-X at RED Day. EPIC will be released with 5ms out of the box.

I would have posted this before... but I forgot. Sorry about that.

Jim

It was until we turned down the clock speed to work on other things... like calibration, dynamic range and "stuff". It is now slightly faster than the M sensor, and we'll turn the clock speed back up when we are done "cleaning house" on the sensor.

so with this latest release build for MX has this been done, or is it still to come?

It will come once they have some of the other tweaking done with the sensor. As of right now, it sits at around 8.5 I believe.

Skew is an exaggerated problem. In real life you almost never see it.
