Hi,
We will be receiving our MXed Red on Monday. Due to some stock issue the new generation power supply was not shipped with it.
Can I use the old power supply with the RED Mxed camera or should I wait for the new power supply.
Thks

NO, you need the new Elpac Power Adaptor, have few extra ones and can happily sale you one ;)

Power Supply

Power Supply

You can use the old 12V output power supply, but avoid powering an LCD plus an EVF, or accessories off the two rear of camera 4 pin LEMO power taps, if you do....

The newer 15V output power supply is required to support that configuration.

The existing REDBRICK batteries you have will be O.K in any case.

Hmmm. I originally had two of the old HUGE 12VDC 8A that came with my original RED One.

Then I bought the slimline 12VDC 8.3A 100W from Red (Europe) Pinewood, fairly soon after they were available to save weight and space, which looks the same as the current Red Store one, but it seems is not beefy enough for the MX.
Bit annoying it wasn't MX ready!

MX is obviously more power hungry, and needs a 15VDC supply. What current output and max wattage is the new power supply? If Red is out of stock of them to send them with new MX cameras, we may have to make our own up.

That is why I say no, and use the new Elpac one, as other wise people will use the older one with
the camera loaded as usual and experience problems.

Hi Ketch

Can you tell us what the output amps and wattage are on the new MX power supplies?

Thanks
Eric

This is good to know...
We had this issue on set. The new power supply was on back order.

Thanks Ketch!!

Power Adaptor

Power Adaptor

Hi,
Thks all. Rcvd mail from RED that they will be shipping the power adaptor soon.

Any issue with using the new MX power supply on an original M camera? I would imagine not but was in the position last week where we had 6 Reds on set and were sharing gear. When we put an MX power supply on an M, we had a quick discussion and decided it was fine, but would be nice to confirm.

The current generation ELPAC AC Power Adaptor is compatible with both M and M-X sensor RED ONEs.

How about powering an M-X camera from the AC output on the RedBrick chargers? Same caveats as the old AC power adaptor or are they good for M-X cameras?

I use the new (free with M-X upgrade) ELPAC AC adaptor, I'm just curious....

Cheers,

Paul
