I love my Scarlet-W (soon to be Epic-W), but the thing I sorely miss is internal NDs. This makes the Red a hard camera to use for any type of quick setup / run-gun situations. Yes, you can use a Variable ND, but those have issues of their own.

People who have used the new Sony Electronic Variable ND seem to rave about it. Is this the same idea as Motion Mount? What are the differences in tech aspects?

From what I’ve read, the Sony variation seems to have NO drawbacks vs Motion Mount which seems to have a few limitations with shooting wide open + higher ND settings and the loss of 1.5 stops of light

Is it possible for Red to make something on par with Sony’s Electronic VND in EF and PL? This would be amazing and very useful. Also, something like this would keep the Red bodies small as physical internal NDs take up room.

Not sure, but we use the Motion Mount all the time and it's amazing. The cleanest ND we'e ever used.

That's great to hear. Maybe in an updated version they can have a "Clear" setting where there's no 1.5 stops of light loss? I would love to have a solution that I can just leave on all the time and not have to swap mounts. I would buy that in a second.

Motion Mount affects the appearance of motion by smoothing motion blur, giving it a natural falloff and by removing rolling shutter effect(s).
