So FINALLY I get a chance to do some Red shooting. Thanks to the generosity of DeadMike I got to frolic around Seattle all day doing test shots. It culminated in us taking in the partially eclipsed moon tonight. Above you'll find a 1k export of the event. We shot in the VERY experimental "Relative" shutter mode starting with a value of 1/24th of a second, at 24. We then took the FPS down too 2fps in VARISPEED (not timelapse mode). The resulting shutter speed must have been something like half a second. We couldn't tell because the screen still displayed 1/24th but we could tell it got a lot brighter. This resulted in a fair amount of noise, so I had to use some simple yet effective post tricks to eliminate it. I'm still messing around with them and DPX exports etc.

Tomorrow I'll post a lot more of our adventures around Seattle, including some "Mystery" lens tests. I'm so excited I can't sleep.

Mike these are great. Nice rig photo. But I think I have lens envy...

Thanks for going into detail how you achieved these timelapse shots. It is also great to see you so stoked over these images, I have been having my doubts as of late.

I look forward to your seeing whatever else is up your sleeve.

Those clips are fantastic! Very exciting to see what this camera is capable of doing. I could almost hear CCR in the background with their final line being, "trouble's on the way". I'm telling you, it would make for a fun ad.

Fantastic Mike! Thanks for sharing !

Did he ever post his finished work?
