Hi

my 5inch Red monitor seems to run really cool in terms of colour balance. My Smallhd that I use at the same time is noticeably warmer and matches the footage a lot more than the RED MONITOR?

How can the RED monitor be untrustworthy in terms of what I am seeing? Can anyone help?

thanks!

Red monitors always were bad in terms of color reproduction. Starting from the 5.0" Red Pro Touch, which was rather green/cool, ending up at 7.0" DSMC2 touch - all of them produced the colors with a shift. Dunno about newer dsmc3 touch and highbright ones - never used them. Not like a total garbage, but I don't judge the WB, Certain colors etc. on Red Monitors. They are rather bright though and good as a second monitor or a monitor to quickly evaluate exposure on a sunny location. I use them for menus etc.

If you want a more color-accurate monitor you should use a TV-Logic or SmallHD instead. I tend to trust TV Logic more than Small HD in overall performance.
