  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED Matte Box

Great to hear, I've been waiting for some feedback on it. Ordered it yesterday Solely on my past experience with the redrock Follow focus which is a really nice unit. So its nice to hear positive feedback on the matte box.
 
I heard the Arri Mattebox goes for 4112.00$ more or less and does not include aceesories (flags, swings, etc...)... That's like 6000$ for a fully equipped one... RedRock seems to get great reviews and comes all equipped... Might order one too! I'd rather spend those 6000$ in a lens! (or a follow focus...)
 
The RED Matte is very close to the LMB5 from ARRI, it's a clip on an will come with different lens holders diameters (don't know how to say in englisch, hehehe). It is really well done (CF and alluminium?), the inner side is .... matte, but not black at the moment, that will be shurely changed, right, Jarred? ;-) And if the price is right.... the LMB5 from ARRI is at least over 2500$ if I remember right with all little gadgets. REDROCK swing away is good looking and really ok for the price, but should not be compared with the (overpriced) MB20. It tends to moove to much because the swing away isn't build that rock steady as it should.
 
The RED clip on looked pretty good inside the display case. I'm assuming it will be matte black on the inside when it ships (how could it not be?).

The RedRock Micro Mattebox was a nice surprise. I thought it looked pretty good and the few serious concerns I had were addressed Brian and one of his associates as being fixed on the shipping model. I will say that while the mattebox is still not an Arri MB20, it is rather nice. The low price is a nice bonus too and I will have the RedRock mounted in front of my RED. The anodized red (or blue) thumb-screws and wing nuts are a nice touch for those who want to be flashy, but I think I'll still be getting the black ones.
 
Any news on RED MATTE BOX price and availability.
