  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Red LCD with small scratch for sale on ebay

I've heard a lot of reports on the RED LCD scratching very easy. I am looking into larger an tougher options for my camera.

Maybe there's a plastic coating that could be put over the monitor. I know there are overlays like that for PDAs that are easily replaceable.

The compact/light size with one connector providing power and video is very cool.

I was thinking the same thing, Joel. I've used one for years on my PDA and I couldn't be happier with it. I wonder if there are any downsides to using it on RED's LCD?

Anyone ever use the small litepanels lights?

I think when I get my LCD (this week!) I'm going with the four pieces of velcro and a nice little piece of clear plexiglass or thick clear plastic.

Unfortunately glare and further limited angle viewing can become a big problem with both these solutions.

Boxwave is what I've used in the past. They have a pretty good anti-glare solution, and are very clear. I just hate tearing off one of those things, though--feels like I'm ripping off the LCD bond. I wonder how sturdy the RED LCD is constructed that way.

I also like the plexiglass idea, David, although glare and clarity might become more of an issue. Of course, I suppose you can just take it off if you need to.
