hey all,

I don't know if these go together, or if they go under build 20.1.3 issues(i don't want to blame the build, but nothing else has changed in our setup). It has occured on two different shoots, one indoors, one on the beach a few days apart.

First, on playback, cards or drives, the onboard LCD was cropping the image, but the output image was full. I have read the previous posts about changing the monitor settings from 1080 to 720, but that isn't doing anything. Neither was toggling the 50 and 59.94 HZ setting.

Secondly, I was getting some strange color space output from the SDI-1 and 2(changing our monitor to GBR on color space option seemed to fix it).
The 720p output off the breakout box was showing normal color space(YPbPr setting on our monitor)
Ive gone through different BNCs and to different monitors, and the problem persists. So I'm deducing that its between the breakout box, the settings in camera, or the >_< the build?

Thoughts?

Thanks all,
Steffen
(strangely, just now as I was trying to recreate the problem in the shop and had done successfully, I reset some different settings(video-look-clear and preferences-user profile-clear, didn't see a change, then stepped out for 5 minutes and boom, the preview on the LCD wasn't cropped anymore!)

by the way, i know i'm not going to get the menu info from the red lcd display on my monitor ;)

we're talking strictly the filmed image.

The colors issue is because on playback the outputs labelled HD-SDI act as a dual link.

So you have RGB 4:4:4 data split across two connectors, 4:2:2 and 0:2:2

Would need some more data from you to comment on the LCD issue.

Sorry Stuart, I'm not clear about your reply...in fact, I hilighted dual link in the operations guide, because I don't understand the terminology. Can you elaborate for me? (fyi, I'm using only one BNC and switching it between the different outputs, one at a time, for example when I took the pics, no splitting etc. :undecided:)

What data can I give you for the LCD display anomaly?

Thanks so much for your help!

Dual LINK is a SMPTE standard that requires the use of two cables. So if you are using one, these green and pink images are what you would expect to see.

Connect to the PVW output for a "correct" image.

Not sure what to say about the LCD issue, I can't recreate it, so may be best to send the LOG file to RED technical support and we may be able to understand what's happening better...

yeah, methinks the monitor is viewing the middle lines of the picture, and it's only in playback as cail wrote, thus the option of 1080 or 720 playback modes is pointless really. it'd be grand if we could select GUI for different outputs, say, clean image for agency, timecode for continuity and all the info for DP.

I had the same green overcast color issue too when viewing clips in RocetCine. But changing the Rocket settings to YUV422 on SDI "A" took care of it.

Cropped LCD and green/ pink images means you have the camera se up for 1080 dual link playback.

You have to switch the playback from 1080 to 720.

Make sure preview is set to 720p
make sure hd-sdi is set to the correct htz for your area.
make sure playback mode is 720

I also suggest that you toggle and select for these settings. as in rolling the joystick from 1080 to 720 and then pressing down or in to drive home the selection.
