Here is a reformatted 2.39:1 ish version I made of the video above.

I took the 3410x1000 original image and reformated it into a 2.39:1 image inside of a 3410x1918 16:9 frame. I added a slight bit of black in the shadows and I exported it out of Resolve as a DNxHR HQ file.

Cool. That might look great projected across multiple theater screens. But when you drop it on to that 16:9 TV that it will more than likely be viewed on, all that extra black becomes a distraction.

If I'm not mistaken, the 16:9 TV will add even more black to both the top and bottom than the video represented. I think I remember a DCI image( 1.90:1) formatted inside of a 16:9/1.77:1 image, with the additional amount of black the TV will add to the top and bottom of the image, looks pretty decent for a Cinematic look.

I think this 16:9/ 1.77:1 image would be stretched inside of the Cinema's usual DCI 1.90:1 frame.
