I'm not sure if this is the right place, but here's basically what happened. We are in day like 15 of production, and have had the same camera build the whole time. No changes were made. Camera booted up fine today, and before we had first shot the camera was powered on and sitting for a few min. Right before we rolled our problem happened. The video below show's what happened. We powered down, black shaded, new card, nothing worked. On inspection the physical censor looked fine. So we started to strip the camera peace by peace. Once the locket box and audio mic receiver was taken off the "melting censor" issue went away and everything went back to normal. Image is great now, and audio is all plugged back in, with no issues. But it's really weird that this happened and I'd love to know what it was and why so I can fix it if it is a bigger problem. Any ideas? Anyone else seen this?

Thanks in advanced.
**EDIT taking down link now, thanks for all the help!

Seems to me the very next action you take should be to file a support ticket with RED. You obviously have an issue and they would be the most likely party to be able to offer help.

BTW - "sensor" and "censor" are very different things. :-)

def get a support ticket, but verify its not a corrupted clip...perhaps you can isolate the issue to say the mag, ssd module, etc...

i mean that'd be a better solution then a busted brain...so i hope its a cheaper issue... did you expose the sensor to lasers, direct sun light, anything that could of damaged it?

The issue was for sure not a clip, I dont believe it was exposed to a laser or direct sunlight, but its a possibility i suppose. The issue seems to be fixed though, as it's not happening anymore. I feel like maybe it could be a firmware issue, do you think? I have the newest beta build...

Weird that the problem went away without the lockit box and audio, but is now OK with the same kit plugged in!

Can say I've never seen that issue before!

I assume you contacted Red support? If you still have the camera you can still write a camera log and send it in.

Hey Ericyoung the problem did in fact go away when the lockit and audio went away, and they are now back on board camera and NO problems anymore. It's so weird, I have owned two reds (this being one) and never have i seen this. I did not contact Red support, i suppose I should but there are only a few days left on this show, I'd as much just finish the show if the problem stays away and then send it in after the show wraps.
