RED is booting but fan is not working

hey i am shooting away from home in Valencia, Spain, its 30 degree Celsius here...hehe

my problem:

cam is booting but the fan is not working.

Any troubleshooting ideas?
Dont know how i can check if it is hardware related or software.
restore didnt help

K. Berlin, are you saying that even if you set the Fan to always on in the Maintenance menu, the fan does not work? Then it may be a hardware problem - Lim

Is fan not running just during boot sequence or not at all? Working during idle but not record? Or just plain not engaging at all?

Anything in the fan path? Like is the camera mounted on something and maybe a bolt was inserted too far into the bolthole and disrupting the fan?

the fan was dead, changed the cam...

nothing was attached to the cam...not even the red bottomplate...
anyway awesome pictures.

i heard about another case in the same week with a dead fan.

Fans are weakest part of the camera.
It's pity that such great technology has such weak and not user replacable coolers.

I rented my cam for a feature film about 2 moths ago. At some point they called and said they had the same issue. They removed the mottom cover(the one protecting the fan) and noticed that one of the 3 cables connected to it(the red...coincidence?) was cut. They re-connected it and everything was fine. It was quite hard for me to believe that a cable was cut even though all 3 are twisted together but since there hasnt been any issue since I forgot about it.
