  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Red iPhone apps?

I think Mr. Jannard should approach Mr. Jobs about a RED branded "super-mini-camera" for the iPhone 3G Video when it finally comes out. It is only a matter of time before the iPhone offers full video and video conferencing. What a great way for RED to get their name out there.

I know, I know, RED is all about 2k, 4k, 5k, 37k etc. but considering how efficient the RED Codec is and the R3D file format and considering what RED knows about efficient digital imagery, they could design and build an amazing mini-camera that would shoot maybe 720 x 480 Raw and the files would be teeny-tiny. In exchange for a lowered price, there would be a RED Digital Cinema logo on the back of every Video iPhone. Considering Apple will eventually be selling hundreds of millions of these around the world, this would serve for incredible branding and could actually generate a sizable profit. Not to mention what a great little "field" tool the iPhone Video with RED Raw would be in the overall RED workflow.

Thoughts?

Already done for storage calc in version 1.1.

Persistent preferences.
Still trying to work out how to keep settings saved between usages, but the damn apple NDA means that developers can't actually talk about how to do things. I'll probably do it with a database driven solution.

Nice app. Can I ask what CoC you used for Red.
 
Sure, CoC is often a matter of personal preference (as it relies on intended display size, actual sensor size, and sensor/film resolution)
I went with a CoC of 0.02 as I believe it represents a good compromise, but if there is a compelling need for a different CoC I'd be willing to change it.
(I added the custom CoC overide for that very reason)

The others are set at my usual settings of:
35mm CoC 0.029
16mm CoC 0.0125
 
Hi Ed!! Can you do a version for the jailbroken phones? I have my iPhone jailborken and I don't want to upgrade to the 2.1 firmware!! Thanks for the great App!!

Which part of the app are you referring to? I'm guessing Lens2Lens?

The point of lens2lens is to try and replicate the look of a lens (the DoF and FoV) on one sensor (camera 1), to a different sized sensor (camera 2) by suggesting a lens and t-stop to use on camera 2.

Why does the t-stop change?
f/5 on a 50mm will not have the same DoF as f/5 on a 25mm.

Hence, the T-stop, and lens focal length lens2lens suggests for camera 2 is trying to match the DoF (specifically hyper focal length), and FoV of the lens on camera 1 accounting for the difference in sensor size.

i.e a 50mm f/8 lens on a 4K sensor, will have a similar DoF and FoV to a 25mm f/4 lens on a 2K sensor.

It's not 100% accurate, but it will put you in the ball park.

Sure, I wasn't aware the descriptions were so hard to read.
I must have my contrast turned up higher than everyone else. :nerd:

boy was i suprised when a random search of the app store turned up isee4k just one day after i read about it on here. gladly donated to your cause.
