  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Red iPhone apps?

Hi all,

While I wait in Apple app review purgatory. Those with JailBroken phones running Cydia might want to test it out/ play with it.

I haven't got a Jailbroken phone so I can't test if this install method works, but I have been told if you ssh the app to your iPhone and then use 'ldid' (from Cydia) on the code file on your iPhone using the following commands it should work (replacing the xyz for the app name obviously).

ldid -S /Applications/xyz.app/xyz
chmod +x /Applications/xyz.app/xyz

PM if you want the app for free.

Looks great - I'd pony up.

Sorry to join the discussion late here. I have a question. How did you manage to download the SDK pack without first signing up as a developer, which is when you pay the $99? You gotta be really careful man, cuz Apple has been very strict with their developers program and their SDKs.

Any updates Ed?

Another customer with a dozen others I know for sure to follow. App looks great, can't wait to see it in the store!

Hello,

You can download the SDK just fine without paying anything and it's perfectly legal. If you want to submit your app to the store for distribution, then you need to pay $99.

Exactly. I think the $99 developer version allows you to connect to the iPhone directly for testing where the free one just emulates. Something like that anyway.

Hi all,

Just to let you know my app was approved to go into the App store.
I am currently waiting on Apple to sign the contract and then it should go live in the next week priced at an affordable (I hope) $8.99.

I also gave the app a little face lift, fixed a couple of bugs, and changed the name (on August 4th, prior to Jim's announcement today) to iSee4K as I didn't want any trademark issues.

I'll keep you all posted.

SWEET!

I was just over there looking around for your app and came over to see what was going on.

Can't wait!

Best,

ATF

If you decide to make another app or add to this one, a timecode calculator and a drive space estimator for different codecs besides redcode would be nice.

I may, or may not, add more features to the app in the future. However, I will definitely update it (with the red builds) and patch any bugs/errors that crop up.

I only really built the app to fulfill a specific short term need I had. Namely to quickly reference RED frame settings, calculate RED storage, establish DoF/FoV, and work out equivalent lenses.

Other programs like Pcalc and Pcine are far more advanced, and already do most of what you were asking, I definitely don't want to start competing against them.

That said, space estimation for codecs like ProRes (HQ), DPX and 1080pHD would probably be very useful. I'll give it some thought.

Wow. i don't even have my camera yet (4236) and yet i am excited about using your app. even looked over the itunes store already just to see if it was up. so add another customer. plus a few others as i show it off to some peers before my camera gets here

Hey all,

Some good news!
iSee4K is now live on the app store.
Apple were taking such along time getting the paid contracts sorted that I have decided to make the app free.

BUT I would really appreciate a small donation ($7.50) if you use and like it.
I'd like to cover the $99 apple developer fee, once that's reached I'll take down the button.

You can make a donation by clicking on the button at:
http://abbeygateway.co.uk/iSee4k.php

You can get version 1.0 of the app at:
http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=287324658&mt=8

Version 1.1 is currently pending approval, so should be released soon, the update includes build 16 storage estimates.

Just downloaded the App from the store- great little program! Thanks Ed for taking the time to create it.

One thing, I was ready to pay the $8.99 fee, but for some reason it's listed as free? That a mix-up on Apple's part?

FYI
