  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED INDIA

Congrats Ted and RED team. Great idea to hit Mumbai big. The potential in India is endless.
I always love to see Ted spreading the word. He is an energy bomb like no other.

Now enter the lion's cage. Get Japan Ted!

Yes Jeetu,

and while in Dubai, discussing of the DIFF (Dubai International Film Festival) India's Cinema came up several times, in the fact that its cinematic quality has been greatly improved at an International level, and
its block Basters are getting more and more, we'l pick up talks again in my next visit to Dubai shortly...

In one of this I'll really try harder Jeetu to make it to Mumbai... Promised... ;)
 
Thanks for all the great feedback everyone. Day after day here in endless meetings, Studio Visits both in the North and South regions of India. You really get a sense how Gigantic the Movie Market is here and how interested everyone is in EPIC and the new SCARLET X. You could spend months and months here and just scratch the surface of the amount of Cimena work at very high levels going on in India. There are already a lot of RED ONE movies shot, and being released in theaters week over week, and a number of big movies being shot on EPIC right now here.

And a special Thanks to Harcharan from EDITFX for posting some of the pix from the event, you can all see how much fun we had, and being a good sport when I called him up as a surprise to talk about his work on the RED and now EPIC!

Agreed Ted, and for this in our discussions in Dubai, an Office for our Studios, was also to be opened in Mumbai, its just too important as a Market Place,
and an extremely important Market Share of the Global Film Industry, to not acknowledge it will be foolish!!

He he, will be back in Dubai next month... After that I should be in Rio de Janeiro, then Japan, and Hong Kong, but yeah... Please do tempt me as Mumbai is very next on the list... ;)

Well you know what this means? You'll all definitely need to get those Red Prime Anamorphic lenses made, from what I hear that's Bollywood's favorite way to shoot! :smilewinkgrin:

Great news Jim, Just met Ted & Ryan in Macau Film Festival last week, although not crowed but enjoy it...
Just can't catch up with Ted and Ryan in Shanghai...
Mr. Jim do you and your team have any planning to do the real present new cameras, Pro Prime and Zoom Lens in Mainland China?

This is great news from RED, congratulations. We in Hyderabad make almost 120 full length (130 to 160 minutes) direct feature films in our local language called Telugu, about 70 full length feature films we dub from other languages per year and about 100 Bollywood films get released per year. This is not included the number of Hollywood films releases. Welcome RED to the real cinema crazy place on the earth called Andhra Pradesh, Hyderabad.
 
Really fantastic news, especially after I was told by the chief engineer of prime focus who visited my set 2 weeks ago, saying that firstly 90% of Indian theatres had gone digital 2K projection and prime focus had bought 40 Alexa's
( hmmmmm I am not really sure I believe that, maybe 4, but I never believe anything , so maybe to cynical )
Furthermore according to him , as the projectors were only 2 K It was a waste to shoot on anything above 2 K ( another genius in the making).
I did try to have a conversation with him, to explain why one would should shoot 4K/5K but he chose to ignore me and keep talking Arri, I did give up and walk away as I had finished my lunch and did need to go back and shoot.

To Ted, Jarred and THE Captain, Mr. Jannard,
I have been wondering all along how you all could miss India and wanted to pay visit to your LA facility ( actually, was waiting for Scarlet announcement). Now that you have landed (and already made headway here), its really thrilling. simply fantastic because you would get unprecedented market and (hopefully )unprecedented success here because of cost consciousness culture.
I am based in Mumbai and as I understand, I would be able to buy/ get support for any red of the RED Cameras/accessories?Right or is that some distance away? pl let me know because I am planning a Scarlet -X purchase.
Thanks for all the initiative and pathbreaking technologies. Your inventions have made a great difference to Digital and Indie cinema.
