  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED in middleast

Had mine for over a year.

4 commercials so far... ADACH, Etisalat, Xbox Live ME, Etihad Airlines.
1 Short flick. Oct.
1 Feature - Pre-production (completes production end of Jan 09)
2 more features underway for 09 - production sometime mid 09.

Receiving 2 more RED-ones in two weeks.
 
well congratulations to you Akube too, a year wow you must be an old hand at working the Red,must of been hard work without all the proper accessories.
Would love to see anything you have shot with it,do you have a website with a reel or anything like that?
Do you ever get up to Dubai
I recently shot the latest ADACH maybe next time I will be able to convince them to shoot on the Red instead of 35mm.

You'd want to convince Shahaab Abdulla from Animation Art first. He fancies phantom HD .. dunno if he fancies Red yet. the adach brand image trailer was pretty neat. unfortunately i do not have a proper website yet. I don't have the time or the heart to build me a site.. though i did post a gallery of images once for the short flick. it was a zero production flick.

Shahab is great and will always listen to reason, I really enjoy working with him, he is a great Producer, never panics always calm and above all, always has a brilliant sense of humour.

I know what you mean about websites that is why I did mine very quickly with iweb, nothing great but serves the purpose.

Bastikia looks interesting.

What lenses are you useing ?
 
ultra primes.. from marwan, pro action, I get a nice deal.. the short and independent .. i use nikon glass. i had to send my birger mount back for repair or else i wouldve used my collection of canon lenses.
 
Ahh proaction I know them very well.

I am not a lover of Ultra primes ( as all the rental houses will tell you),

I use Cooke S4's (My set arrives next May) or on occasion Master primes.

Not convinced about stills lenses, Do not think they are for me besides the obvious focus puller issues etc. Not convinced about the quality, would need to test them extensively, but do not have the time, so prefer to go a route I know and trust.

I know Nick D is very happy with his Nikons it is all personal taste
