RED in Indy...

You know, seeing theese stills reminds me of Red's old website, where we could see some dragster photos taken with a canon still cam, and dream someday we would see those shots from a RED.

You must be very proud! Congratulations, enjoy!

Jim, those shots look too good. Are you sure you're not using a high end DSLR from Nikon or Canon? Surely you can't get moving images that look that good at 4k on a compact flash card?

Graeme

Hey Graeme,

I was to replay that the frame grabs Jim posted look like photos I could only have taken with one of my Canon L series lenses paired with the 1D bodies, but I did not posted cause I do not know Jim's sense of umor, and did not want Him to think that I was doubting the origin of this shots.

But this pics are truly fantastic.

Ciao,

Those shots are great Jim!

I used to work on a weekly racing show shot on Betacam SP. I can't imagine how the full 4K clips looks like. They are certainly amazing.

#601 I'm waiting for you:w00t:

Wow.

I sense some updates of the stills/poster gallery

I think Jim knows I'm only joking when I say they look like high end DSLR shots :-) But yes, very nice indeed. When I see shots from RED like that, I'm happy.

Graeme

I can hardly fathom the potential for pulling crystal clear 4K stills from moving footage. My Canon xti just ran out the door in tears. Don't let it hit ya on the way out!

excellent, makes me want to write a script about racing.

I'm just wishing now that we had another companion site to reduser, only for posting RED images and footage, that way images could be found more quickly, and we could discuss them here as well.

Because you know there is going to be a flood of images now.

Breathtaking stuff. Love to see these pictures moving.

Night shot...

would it be possible to get a 4k or 2k version of this shot?

...or... maybe something moving? ;)

Agreed, It would be nice to see these shots in motion. Also, could you give us any other shooting parameters (setting)?

Thanks Jim.

god I love cars!..

edit. I get the feeling this is quite an important shot.. a turning point, a moment for someone who wanted something and (with help)has again achieved it, and at the same time helped others.

thank you.

This night shot was with our 18-50mm T3 zoom, 23.98 project, 1/48th (180 degree) shutter, ISO 500, record to Compact Flash (naturally). I can't remember T-stop but probably around T4.

Jim

I wonder how long have you dreamed to do this, Jim...I think a lot of us share the same feeling as Flameop about this shot.
Btw - nicely put, Flameop.

I agree with Flameop jim, you must post that, if you don't please bring it to IBC next week so we can take a look.

Great stuff Jim, and I'm liking the look of that Zoom! :)

Cheers

Paul

Jim,

Thanks. That is the information I was looking for.

Jim, how does it feelt to have officially made all other camera companies wet themselves in stark terror of.... "The Jannard" and his little pet RED.... ???

My rig is set up (at Indy) with a Panasonic monitor... we sold out of our LCDs on Friday (even the one I set aside for this shoot). I hate the extra weight and bulk of this monitor for "moving around". And our little LCD kicks it's ass in direct sun. This Panasonic is great for studio work, or late afternoon... but I really can't wait to get a RED LCD back on this camera. I actually finally took it off and "shot blind" this afternoon. Here is a frame grab shooting without a monitor.

Nice access. That's a good spot to be with a camera.
