  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

First let me congratulate you on the fantastic shots and thank you for taken time between races for posting.

As far as helping each other in this unique community, I stand with you 100% .

For now I'm offering my gear for free in support of those that getting there RED's out are left temporarily with no funds for renting lights etc.

I have found a home here like no other place.

Jim, or anybody else from HQ in the know,

250 ISO? I thought the camera's lowest setting was 320. Is that an on-camera setting or a software only option? Can the camera go even lower than that? Is there noticeably better detail at 250 than 320 or is it just a way to utilize sunlit exteriors without filters or noise from high ISO? This actually opens up some other interesting possibilities for those of us who want as low an ISO as possible for crisp outdoor shots or carefully lit interiors.

ETA: I know it gets said to death around here, but Jim seems like one of the coolest people you could ever hope to meet. The quote about flipping a coin with Jarred to see who got to take Labor Day weekend off just proves it in yet another way.

For now all ISO modifications are software not hardware. He effectively is just adjusting the levels.

Maybe we'll hear more about the pocket camera and the displays/projectors at IBC... I hope we don't have to wait until NAB!

Also, there are some awesome shots in this thread!

Jim,

Are you able to output FCP timelines via a card (kona or decklink) or a Kona HD i/o, to tape, or are you just talking about outputting digital files.

What I am getting at is: with RED ALERT and FCP could we technically be getting some finished masters from FCP to tape now?

RED One Camera to be 1st Appeared and to be used in " Grand Prix " 2007 in November 2007.

I have a 2007 x68 RED one ready for this excited " RED GIG ", or Jim can bring along his 5 RED ones to make multiple angles with different mm lenses to make the wholw show in 4K for the racing world.

Macau is an ASIAN based " Vegas " and more than 30,000 hotel rooms will be happened in 2007-2008.

Something about how RED One picks up detail in smoke-whether a cigar, gun barrel, or burnt rubber you gotta love the detail/definition. Maybe just a foresight about RED smokin the competition but whatever it is, it sure is pretty.
