Hi guys,
We are a production company from Colombia, but we are shooting a documentary in India, form April 1 through July 1. It will take place in the north part of India along the Ganges, so we want to know a few local companies with a RED ONE near us, just in case we need a back up.
Its always good to know the family around the world ;-).
Thanks.

BTW: We also looking for a sound guy, who is available through these dates.

Thanks again.

Hola Camilo,

We have a couple of RED Ones based in Mumbai (erstwhile Bombay), in case you run into rough weather.

Let me know what kind of sound work you expect to do so that we may make appropriate recommendations.

Regards,
Sandeep

Thanks we would call u went we are there.
The kind of sound would be for documentary, with interviews, the documentary would take 3 months.

BTW: U know if it will be better to buy the HD in the USA or there in India? We are getting 20 TB HD of 1.5 TB each.

Regards,

1TB hard drives are well priced in India. Of course, India is a large country and the prices can vary wildly between cities. But on general average, you can buy 1TBs for within $5-10 of US prices.

I am not sure about 1.5TB though. Especially since you are buying a dozen or so, it might end up saving you a couple of hundred dollars. Unless you are on a very low budget, this saving is probably not going to be worth lugging it all from US (this is assuming you are coming straight from the US rather than Colombia. If there are additional shipping costs or duties involved, then effectively the price will be the same if not less). Also, international hard drives have no warranty coverage in India even if your hard drive has international warranty. (At least Seagate, WD, Maxtor and Samsung - they have to be bought from authorized Indian dealers. This was done to curb the rampant sales of smuggled hard drives.)

Can someone help me with prices?

I want to import a Red Kit in India. What is the duty on it and also is there anyone selling Red locally in India?

Thanks
