Red has another new fan; Kevin Smith

[Andrew Thomas]

His newest flick RED STATE began shooting yesterday. He tweeted this yesterday

"RED STATE fully underway. Observations: Michael, Kyle & Nick crushed the first scene. Excellent crew. Red cameras rock. Catering top-notch."

I would have thought that he would have mentioned catering first....

I would have that he would have mentioned catering first....

I laugh at this for two reasons... One being the obvious, being Kevin Smith, and the second, because you left out one of the important words in that sentence

I would have ____ that?

YES! Man I love Kevin Smith. Yes,yes, yes, his movies are deeply flawed. Still love 'em.
So what? The man is a gem.

Anybody else listen to smodcast out here?

i've really thought Zack and Miri, was one of this most mature comedies to date. He's really evolved his comedy and filmmaking, huge divergence from the Chasing Amy, Clerks, Jay and Silent Bob days. Looking forward to see what he's got up his sleeve now.

Fun fact, he's challenged the MPAA and won more times on the rating on his films more than any director.

I saw a while ago on Dave Klein's (his regular DP) twitter feed telling Kev that Red MX is awesome. (or something to that effect).

If anyone here loves Smodcast half as much as I do you'll love the SMart available at Gallery 88:

YES! Man I love Kevin Smith. Yes,yes, yes, his movies are deeply flawed. Still love 'em...

The little bits he does for The Tonight Show are better than his
films. Being forced to be clean on network TV he winds up with
more clever comedy. Most of the films he falls back way too much
on the easy porno-humour stuff. Had my fill of that in junior high.

Big Smodcast fan.According to David Klein,he (David) had wanted to shoot with an Epic (well, who here doesn't) but had to "settle" for Red MX .Will be using a dslr or two also, for a couple of minor things,he said.
