RED Handle wingnut

OK. I think I officially feel dumb now, but now that I have most of our kit in, I'm trying to put it together and I'll be damned if I can figure out how to get the Red Handle-grips onto the 19mm rod. The wingnuts keep hitting the sleeve when I try to tighten them preventing me from even getting close to have the handle on the rod. I'm using the shorter 8mm wingnuts. It must be an obvious solution that I'm overlooking so someone please slap me in the head so I can see it.

I ran into the same problem. I never resolved it. I wound up finding a different bolt.

You know (or don't, I didn't until someone told me) that you can lift up on the handle portion of the wing nut and reposition it to then screw further - kinda like a ratchet....

They ratchet. Pull up on the plastic part and you should be able to ratchet back to whatever position you need.

I would throw a few extra washers on there as well if you are having problems getting the handle tight.

indeed. and don't feel bad guys, it took me almost 5 days to figure this one out. I truly felt stupid The RED ARM works this way as well

Make sure you're using the correct ones too. If I remember right, I think they have different lengths so that it hits and tightens sooner.

Don't feel bad, I wasn't aware of the high tech wingnuts either...

Yeah, pull OUT the wing nut and then turn--it's on a spring. The ratchet on the wing nut extends past the handle. We didn't realize it until the next day. We thought it was a defect. ;-)
