8.) ALSO INCLUDED WILL BE A HEAVY DUTY NYLON SHOULDER STRAP WITH QUICK RELEASE CONNECTOR THAT MOUNTS TO THE SIDE OF THE RED GUNNER WITH A “NATO” CONNECTOR. (USEFUL IF YOU WANT TO HANG YOUR RIG BY YOUR SIDE WHEN YOU’RE NOT SHOOTING). It would be wise to use a small light weight cable (wire rope) connector for safety at the Quick Release Connector.
When RED introduced the RED GUNNER SHOULDER MOUNT I saw a lot of potential in the way it could be optimized and used. RED had an optional shoulder pad for it but I thought that mounting a LETUS35 MCS PROFESSIONAL SHOULDER PAD would make it much more comfortable. I also thought it would be useful to have two QUICK RELEASE mounting point. One on the top for the camera and a second one on the bottom of the RED GUNNER (another second RED QUICK RELEASE PLATFORM (BOLT-ON) SKU# 790-0078) with another RED DSMC MOUNTING PLATE SKU# 790-0094 available. With a second bottom mounting point the RED GUNNER could be quickly put on a Tripod or Jib. The RED GUNNER could also be used with a Monopod although the RED QUICK RELEASE PLATFORM (MINI) SKU# 790-0390 (not part of this sale but still available as a used item) may be more appropriate for uses with a monopod as it’s quite small (the RED DSMC MOUNTING PLATE SKU# 790-0094 would be mounted on the bottom of the RED GUNNER and the RED QUICK RELEASE PLATFORM (MINI) SKU# 790-0390 would be mounted on a swivel head monopod - (Oben BD-02 Mini Ball Head BD-02 B&H Photo Video ). The bottom end of the Monopod could be placed in a heavy duty pouch on a waist belt - POUCH - ( Manfrotto 080 Monopod Belt Pouch 080 B&H Photo Video ), WAIST BELT - ( Honl Photo Photojournalist Belt (S-M-L, Black) DHC-SML B&H Photo ). This setup provides extremely good support for the weight of the Camera and RED GUNNER SHOULDER MOUNT and aids in stability for a good steady shot.
Using the RED GUNNER SHOULDER MOUNT hung from an “EASYRIG” (with a small strong light weight safety cable (wire rope) attached to the camera) is also a good option. The “EASYRIG CINEMA 3” would be the preferred choice if the camera was rigged heavy (with various extra gear). If you wanted real stability you can mount a KENYON KS 4X4 GYRO on the bottom while using an “EASYRIG” putting the Gyro’s re-charge battery in a small back pack. I’ll be selling a KENYON KS 4X4 GYRO on the REDUSER “Marketplace: 3rd Party Gear” in a couple of days.
On this rig I’m selling the LETUS35 MCS SHOULDER PAD is mounted on two curved custom shaped pieces of very strong ABS Plastic that are mated with heavy duty industrial velcro so that the LETUS35 MCS SHOULDER PAD (which is wedge shaped in thickness and has a inside curve to fit the neck) can be turned around 180 degrees and placed to be comfortable for a shooter who is using an EVF on either the right or left side of the camera and the RED GUNNER SHOULDER MOUNT can be placed on either shoulder. A longer RED 9” ARM (ARTICULATING) SKU# 790-0073 (ORIGINALLY PRICED AT $150.00) (not a part of this sale) is available on the used market if you need to mount an LCD Monitor a bit further away from your face for better viewing when using a Monitor instead of an EVF.
The RED GUNNER SHOULDER MOUNT is an extremely strong and well designed shoulder mount. It offers many setup options and can provide very good image stability in a number of shooting situations. It can be broken down quickly into it’s various components making it able to fit into quite a small ATA (Air Transport Association) flight case.
NOTE: The 7” SMALLHD MONITOR shown on the RED 5" ARM (ARTICULATING) SKU# 790-0072 is not part of this sale, It is only use as an example of what a Monitor looks like mounted on the RED 5" ARM (ARTICULATING) SKU# 790-0072 - which is included in this sale.
