  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED getting publicity

Yeah, it's a funny thing because you think of Arri, Panavision or Red as a name everyone knows but when I talk to friends that are completely out of the business they most likely never even heard of them. I must say that we are most likely in the minority and that if you ask most people unrelated to the business they will also have not heard of them. Although, some may have heard the name Panavision, likely from movie credits, but to most that's about it.

I am going to Fiji for a week... :-)

With my EPIC...

Jim

I originally wrote "with your EPIC of course"...but then I thought I'd give Scarlet a shot...

Anyway, it's an awesome time for RED. It's exciting for me as a fan, with no current RED equipment or investment, to see RED growing. I can't imagine what it's like for all of you at RED.

Ye gods, I certainly hope Mr. Jannard does not make that mistake. Companies tend to change overnight when they go public. Suddenly, it's not the customer they need to keep happy but the stockholders. And stockholders don't give a flying f*** about quality, customer satisfaction, support or anything else besides how their stock is doing. There are times when I'm convinced the biggest mistake humankind ever made was the invention of the stockmarket.

i am so glad, that Red has funds enough to not become a money whore.

Petri,

Just hit rewind a minute and understand that even things like the RED camera would not really be possible without modern economics.

David,

Just hit rewind 5000 years and understand that your perception of what is possible lives in a box built by only one experienced option.

Haha, I think we're using a pretty loose definition of "household name" to include panavision. :D

Not really, although the household definition of "Panavision" is admittedly "2.35:1 widescreen". Most non-industry people I've spoken to seem to be familiar with the name, even if they don't understand what it actually refers to.
