  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED future...

Jim,

Great. I'm excited and almost a little nervous. Now, please put Scarlet on the market so I can buy some and give you some money to make this future happen :-)

Mike

Oh man... These guys really know how to create suspense.

This just goes to prove what can be accomplished by people whose first motivation is not money but simply a desire to innovate and create. I can't wait to hear what you guys have in store for us.

I kind of feel like this about the Epic.

It's the imaging -philosophy- behind Red that grabbed my attention and held it. The technology is simply born from the desire to do things with a proper imaging goal in mind.

Serious respect. Seriously.

When can I buy an Epic s?

While I appreciate the work you guys are doing on the future, you have to get the current products shipping. EVF's have been backordered for over a year. Even after "Bomb EVFs are shipping" we still only have a handful out in the public. SSD media is slow moving, accessories needed to get your cameras to work are not here. I still to this day wish I had not canceled my RED ONE order, when the Scarlet S35 was announced for June 2009 delivery. There has to be some way you can better at inventory management and logistics.

I love what you guys do, I just wish I could buy it.

Red Pill

Red Pill

In the beginning, some said that RED was a scam. Now some say that RED is a one trick wonder. I have said that "the 1st is the worst".

So which is it? Is RED likely to last?

I guess this post is to say that we have more in development than we know what to do with. Our sensor program (the heart of a camera company) is way beyond my wildest expectations. We have stuff in the works that would scare you. I am shocked. Every day I wake up, the realities of what we dreamed are becoming a reality... and more. It is pretty surreal. EPIC (a nuclear reactor in a matchbox) is just the beginning. Hard to believe... but true.

Obsolescence obsolete. All the things we are doing forward work with what we are doing now. That was the concept. That is real today.

I thought I saw the future in 2005 when the decision to build the RED ONE was conceived. I also thought that was a big plan. While I guess it was... I see a much more advanced future now. Stay tuned. We have just warmed up the engine.

Jim

All of us with Red Ones have taken the Red Pill - the question is when do we get to see what's going on in "wonderland"?

In the beginning, some said that RED was a scam. Now some say that RED is a one trick wonder.

It is amazing how the 'Red is a scam' meme has spread, I actually heard somebody say that in a conversation two weeks ago as a fact. It's OK I put them straight. To be honest I don't even understand the concept of 'Red is a scam'. Who started that?

Also what is RED's wonderous 'one trick'. Answers on a postcard....

HDR
Redcode
Dynamic Range
Redmote
Resolution (3K - 5K)
Touch Screen Focus
120 FPS 5K
3D
Modular
Red Lenses
...

Anyway well done Jim on Scamming Peter Jackson, Steven Soderbergh, Ridley Scott and hopefully me.

Will.

The future is white but not clipped and black but not noisy. It's gonna be a RED future.

"Our sensor program (the heart of a camera company) is way beyond my wildest expectations."

Yikes.

Monstro.
I would say it's more about newest RED sensor development in a way something like a MX-II that has got two stops more of DR in comparison with MX-I.

Also I hope that the new sensor development has got also a new feature that gives total sensor scalability in a size range from 1080p to 6K

and should be soon implemented in the next RED series of digital cinema cameras.

I love being on the Red wave :-)

Looking forward to seeing you at NAB and what you have in store

I've always believed in RED.

I've been dying with excitement since the first announcement.

I didn't have the money to put down the $1000, and I didn't know how I could come up with the rest of the money by delivery in those early days.

I literally had to choose between rent and deposit- I chose rent.

I remember thinking, "I'm gonna regret this."

I do. Every day. It wasn't a realistic financial proposition at the time, but I regret it.

Every time I work with this remarkable feat of engineering, I think, I could have tried harder to own one.

Now, I'll buy an Epic X ... almost certainly a stage 4 because I have no buy in at RED.

I may buy an executed R1 cast off after Stage 2 deliveries to hold me over... or I may have to buy an F3. In either case I'll probably buy a CineDeck Extreme.

Of course an F3 with a Cinedeck is exemplary of my new strategy. Buy around your future Red. The Cinedeck is a great piece of gear I'll love using with an Epic. Great for dailies, offline edits or even a full 1080p post cycle.

And... notice that the strategy assumes I'll own a RED?
