  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Red footage intercut with HVX200

I don't know who shot that but it was amazing!
Seems like a high end tv show right now. Could be a movie!
Because it is so good I would recommend
1. Sky treatment. In most of these shots you should put a skyfilter on them. Something to give the images more depth.
2. Dub the audio in a studio. Atleast 50% of it needs to be over dubbed.
3. Change the title text. Doesn't seem big budget enough. Check out some opening credits of movies.

These should make the trailer at least 10% better in my opinion.
Great Job.

ok, it´s obviously visible, but it´s a great trailer! what is it for? looks like a trailer for a feature - still shot. what have you done? how much money did you spend on that trailer?? a small commercial budget?:cold:

You should check it out before you make comments on it Akube. It looks really good.

Nice footage. How did you get such high quality on YouTube? I've seen other higher-res stuff on YouTube but none looked this good or was this big? What format was the file you uploaded? Does YouTube recompress after upload?

I think youtube now offers HD uploads, rather then just "High Quality" and frankly, it's about time.

I did look at it.. and it is an awesome video nonetheless. But I still can see some blown out HVX parts a mile away.

Oh Akube come on...It's like you're trying to rip on him now.

Stunning shots, and beautiful images.

Loved the look.

I know Alfonso he's from Vancouver, he's done a couple of these spec trailers and even he said the hvx doesn't hold a candle to red, but it's a great quick insert cam for moving fast and grabbing dirty but useful shots.

Hey ya'll. Thanks for your comments. This trailer is a spec. We filmed it to include in our production package to help raise financing for the feature film. So far, we've been getting great feedback from everyone. So in my part, I think it's a success.

We filmed the tight shots cuz those were the scenes I missed. We couldn't afford the camera on the 3rd day so I had to use HVX200. I figured, if used on tight and quick shots, wont be too noticeable.

The DP was Ian Kerr. He's a local Vancouver DP ( http://www.iankerrdop.com ) He's a great shooter, great attitude, good collaborator.

And NIK. Thanks for your constructive comments. I'll look into them. The sky definitely needs a bit of treatment. We filmed it all in Vancouver, Canada. We got lucky our first day was the hottest day of the summer.

As for DERBERNED's questions, I've done some stuff (I'm not a good agent for myself... :-] .... you can see my work samples: http://www.luxfilmco.com )

I also directed another spec trailer on red with another DP >>> http://www.luxfilmco.com/videos/TRAILER-random-walk.mov

As far as budget, let's just say we filmed them for a Music Video budget.... :-]

Anyways, to properly post HD on youtube, I used these settings:

- H.264
- 1280x720 resolution
- progressive
- AAC audio
- Frame rate as the original video
- Up to 1GB file size and 10 min. duration

Then to send your Youtube HD video to people, add ( &fmt=22 ) at the end of your youtube address.

I hope that helps

Best wishes,
Lux
