  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Red Footage from the booth?

Obviously we probably won't see a download of the footage from the booth given its nature, but does anyone know who the band is of the teenager/lead singer. The scene had a room with cobwebs and he was floating out over a bed and there was a ghost kind of thing underneath him, car accident, band footage, etc...? Loved all of the footage and kudos to those whose footage was demonstrated.
 
I've been wanting to know this too.

Were you told the story about the White Room and Cobweb scenes. Apparently it was shot by a 19 year-old AC who shot those scenes at night in his own house. He got the Red camera from a shoot he was working on at the same time, by sneaking the camera out at night.

I'd love to know more about it or if he'll post it on the web. I can tell people about it, but it won't be the same as showing them.

Yeah, I liked it a lot. All of the footage was spectacular. Nothing beats a 4k viewing environment.
 
The music was a compilation from several different shot on RED projects and music videos, then they mixed in some other tunes which I have no idea where they came from and I would say the sound design was top notch...fantastic show!

Thanks for the compliments on the reel. I am the editor of "Shot on Red," or "The Red 100" as it's known by us at PlasterCITY. Ted and I picked some music that a music supervisor friend of mine, Mason Cooper, was able to send our way.
"100" was significant because the reel was initially built using footage from the first 100 cameras in the first 100 days of the camera's release.
As NAB approached, Ted and I put a call out to Red users for new footage to be sent our way and we received footage from many of people worldwide. It was a total pleasure assembling this footage together from so many talented Red enthusiasts.
The songs used in the reel are as follows:
• Ponderosa "Devil On My Shoulder"
• The Glitterati "Keep Me Up All Night"
•*Yeah Boy and Doll Face "Pierce the Veil"
• Kalen Nash "Fear Stained Heart"
• Cormac Cleary "Beautiful Sense"
Glad you enjoyed the tunes. To compliment Red footage, we wanted some fresh, new music to go along with it.

the video u guys are thinking of is "you can keep me up all night"

the video with the car accident and band playing was a separate music video.

"...up all night" is a truly fantastic piece. I've been searching the net for any info i can find on the video but no luck. Any info would be appreciated
 
The DP for the video with the cobwebs and the white bedroom is a client of mine. He is young, but older than 19 and very talented. He shoots a lot of music videos and is doing a number of features as well. I have a rough cut of the whole video, and it looks amazing. I can't post it or disclose names without permission, but I'm sure the video will make its way online eventually.

I can tell you though that he is a big fan of RED.

hey i shot/directed the music video for "the glitterati".

Were wrapping up post shots and color correction at plaster city in a week or so. Michael cioni has donated his amazing post services to assist us in being part of the red demo. However i think the version everyone saw was straight from the camera.

A production company I started with my producer. We shot it in our loft.

Check in within the next week or so for a high rez QuickTime. Any compression suggestions?

Cool! awesome stuff, I'm kinda a music video snob and that video totally holds up. the shot floating over the mattress is transcendent :) Be proud

red31 was lucky enough to have some of the footage from our jobs included in the respective reels. here is a list of some of what you saw.

match being light at the very beginning
snoop dogg
daughtry (bald singer against pulsating DINO Lights)
juanes (guitar player on the couch in the modern apartment, close-ups of guitar fret & strings)
stray boys short - australia country side
tangueray (Tony Sinclair in a bar - christmas themed lighting)
stray boys - australia coast
HP (only in 100) ( girl on computer in kitchen, guy outdoors on computer by outside firepit)
wienershnitzel (guys in igloo cutting blubber)
hot girl in bathroom (sarah)
hot girl seemingly naked in bathtub sudzing up
hot girl against green screen with still camera
africa Zain footage - very blue water from a dark wood colored deck
sunsilk commercial green screen blond girl comp'ed out to out of focus umbrella acacia tree
hand running through tall grass in the african serengeti
summit toys spray racer
many more up to 40% of entire reel.

also we shot most of the interviews you saw in the theatre queue

red interviews with crash, anthony, pierre & ted.
 
that was posted in the footage forums here, although very low res.
 
Michael, thanks for the breakdown of songs from the video. I've had those songs stuck in my head all week. It was good talking to you at NAB too. Plattino, very nice work. Hope to see some more. Everyone as well had very nice work. Once again, congrats.

That was my favorite video from the Red footage shown at the FCP supermeet. Please do post it up!

Compression wise, maybe shotgun it and offer quicktime H.264s at different resolutions/qualities?
 
I personally shot several of the shots used in "Shot on RED" - sports, beach scenes, waves, other nature shots. Very nice cut on the piece Plaster City. A big shoutout to Clark Dunbar of Mammoth HD, for getting my shots, and those of many other cinematographers represented by Mammoth (Steve Tammi, Jay Kelley, Thor, and many others) to Plaster City for inclusion in "Shot on RED".

Anyone interested in viewing down-rez copies of some of those same shots, and a ton more of my shots, can visit the Mammoth HD RED Library at the link below my signature on this post. A significant portion of the shots in many categories on MHD RED, and in both the demo reels, are mine.

I would have liked to have submitted footage from the various features, TV programs, commercials, and high end business productions that my RED cameras, and those of my production alliance (six cameras total) have been used in since 8/31/07, but unfortunately that footage couldn't be released for inclusion in the reel.

BTW Elcurado, yes, some of your nice shots of the RED camera itself were used in "Shot on RED". Excellent work...

Kudos to the other cinematographers who had shots included in "Shot on RED". Very nice work...
