Got my Red Focus Pro, looks simple and nice, as many aspects of this camera, and as someone already wrote about is not Rocket Science we are talking here.
So I checked it while setting camera at 4K and zoomed in on the monitor. Then I switched to 2K which made the sensor windowed and the image bigger.
Is there any problem checking it with 2K? Love to read what you think and also if Red Team can express an opinion about that

Good theory, I think your right cause at 2K windowed one can see lens imperfections better also. I wonder what the focus target looks like!!

Just used my Red Focus over lunch. The only "unknown" part is if you are bang on. As mentioned in the manual you can't focus the center as the lines are less than a third of a pixel. Now if you factor in how tough it is to make the adjustment on the camera exact (the ring does not move smoothly) it is at best an approximation. BUT still way better than a chart on the wall.

Kudos to Red again!

Forgot to mention to set your sensitivity to 320. It does not state that in the manual verbally but does show 320 in the screen grab. I used 800 as this is common for me but it is easier at 320.

Maybe best is even set the camera to RAW View as this the "nature" of the sensor. At any rate it could have been nice if these information was in the manual:
1. In what camera configuration is best to check back focus? 4K 3K or 2K?
2. What ISO should be set while checking or if RAW View should apply?
3. Does the digital zoom function can be applied to watch the Siemens Star?

Great suggestions. They do recommend the focus zoom. Without it there is no way as the chart is real small to the eye.
I will try the Raw view as I was looking at Redcolor. There is always time during lunch tomorrow.

Have a good one!

Hey David,

Your suggestion is the best.

320 sens
Focus option
5600 temp
focus zoom
RAW view

The target turns white and makes it easier!

Thanks and have a great day!
