I'm looking for a good way to easily adjust back focus and was thinking about purchasing the RED Cambook of charts. But then I remembered an announcement nearly a year ago about the RED Focus specifically made to check back focus. I couldn't find it in the store. Was this ever released? If so, would it work equally as well for the Epic?

Thanks!

Kevin

Yes, it was a Red product posted in April last year and called Red Focus. There was a picture or rendering of it when it was announced.

Oh ... I guess I hadn't heard about it.

As far as I know it isn't available. If its not on the Red Store, then its not available.

It may be on the store tomorrow, but only Red could tell you that and they won't.

Sorry for the confusion.

Yes Kevin, they talked about this but don't was showed yet...
I'm looking for a good choice to.
I don't know for sure which one.

Do you have any one of those Alexander?

Still hoping someone from Red might comment on this. It's not like it's secret, they posted a pic nearly a year ago. Still plan to release it?

RED Focus is lost in development limbo it seems. I recommend both the NULL system from AbelCine or the Optimator from Optitek. I have the PL NULL lens with NULL target and it works great. The image in the reticle is a green siemens star, but it has proven more than adequate. The Optimator has additional marks and measurements. They also have a version of the Optimator with a micrometer built in, which is useful if you will be using on cameras where you need specific measurements to work from, such as if you need to shim the mount or perform adjustments with the camera off or no lens/etc.. mounted.

Thank you Jeff!!!

Couldn't have said it better myself:thumbup1:
The Optimators are available!!!!

Optimators

Optimators

Presumably either one of these will work with the Epic (with a PL mount of course), right?
They sure will.
We designed them using a neutral mount system so you can additionally collimate cameras with Canon, Nikon mounts as well. One of the unique Optimator features...

That is a great feature of the Optimator. With the IB/E Null system you have to buy a $1500 Null lens for each mount you wish to collimate. And that can add up really fast if you have PL, Nikon, Canon, etc..
