Not sure if this has been covered before, but when I shoot a scene that has a regular lightbulb exposed 3+ stops over, I get a red colored flare that will appear, showing off the OLPF I assume. How is this dealt with?

Thanks

Hey Richard,

My experience with these sensor reflect dots is that depending upon the lenses you use the dots will be more pronounced than others when pointing at the sun or even around the sun in some cases. I know, that doesn't help much but in a situation like the one you are talking about it I have seen really bad dot patterns on the RED 18-50, ultra primes, my longer 75mm anamorphic lens and other Nikons as well. I'm really not so sure there is any solution to this issue although if anyone has found it please share.

I encountered it using a Nikon 17-35mm on the Birger mount via a cheapo Nikon-to-Canon adapter. Not sure which of those elements was to blame.
