  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Red Fish Run

I will vouch for you!

I know that feeling. On the Alagnak, in peak years, more than 5 MILLION reds make the journey (up to 70,000 Kokanee travel Taylor Creek).

How can you explain a river so full of fish that they are lined up tip to tail for as far as the eye can see?
Moving pictures, that's how.

The other wonder is all the other wildlife ... Massive brown bears come to gorge on the salmon, yard long rainbow trout feed on the salmon eggs, and eagles nesting on every turn of the river feed salmon to there babies.

This is why I need a RED.

This thread is awesome.

I grew up on a remote island in South East Alaska. My dad was a marine biologist and we ran a fish hatchery for the state. Every summer We would harvest millions of salmon and then make tens of millions of baby salmon.

The water was so thick with salmon you couldn't even think about fishing as all that would happen is you'd snag one.

Its almost like we are connected in some way. I bet I have seen one of your salmon, or one of your salmon's salmon if that makes any sense...

Nice thought Nathan ... after all, we do all breathe the same air, right?

Like minded people at least.

I do have the untested theory that when you are exposed to such exceptional beauty when you are young, then you know it is out there and it is hard to ever let that knowing go ... then grows the overwhelming compulsion to create art.
