  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Red-EVF Compatibility

Yes.

Correct, word is that the original EVF is fully compatible with Epic and Scarlet.

A few weeks ago on Red One I used a prototype of the new Bomb EVF on loan from RED for shoulder held shooting of the band Heart (with Allison Krause) in Seattle. The original EVF has been excellent, but this new Bomb EVF is seriously cool and capable - very lightweight, crisp, good contrast, etc.

With Epic and Scarlet, for anyone who does work requiring mobility, and needs to keep rig size and weight down, I highly recommend the new Bomb EVF. I have one on order, and can't wait to take delivery of it.

Hey there Steve....
you know if the new Bomb evf will use the same LEMO connectors? I've not seen much on the bomb at all, but thinking to bone up on some new EVF/LCD cables as extras...but would be nice to know if they will work with the new bomb.

thanks steve,
Johnny

EDIT: guess it would have to be if you can use with R1 or epic/scarlet ???

Hey Johnny,

Yes I used a stock Red cable with double L Lemo connectors with the Bomb EVF prototype. The cable worked just fine...no problems. Though the Lemo connectors are the same, I'm guessing that Red will have several lengths of cables available for use on Epic and Scarlet, due to the smaller size of the Bomb, smaller size of rigs, and thus frequently shorter run of cable needed. Obviously all things are subject to change with Red.

I'm thinking this smaller Bomb EVF should also be really good for the underwater shooting you do - small size, excellent contrast, etc.
