Hey,
I found this very amusing and interesting at the same time.
I'm sure a GO PRO would have been the go.. But for 5k - 17 megpixel RAW 120fps lovin... How else are you going to do this.
Sharing is caring....

Nice

Wow .....Why does he have the Redmote on the back ? Hope its screwed in tight .......

The trip looks like FUN but I'm not sure about the landing - lets hope this isn't how they got the BT Scarlets!!!

They could have taken the side handle off too. Any less weight surely would have been better on his neck. Or maybe they should have rigged a follow focus and Matt box on it too.

Hehe... So how else would you power the camera then ;)

I'm no scientist, but aren't you weightless in a free fall? Therefore the weight of the camera is a non factor... Until landing. Once the chute opens he could undo the helmet and tuck it under an arm before landing.

Weight during free fall is not an issue. The mass on top of the head and its inertia are.
Once the parachute opens what's on that helmet will reduce speed from roughly 120 mph to 20 very quickly.
Which means head + camera mass x 3-4 G yank for the neck spine and nerves.

There's also the shape issue, and wind drag affecting free fall balance.

I'd like to see those shots.

Epic= less pain in the neck

Epic= less pain in the neck

You guys don't realize how spoiled we are with the release of the Epic camera, both in quality, safety and neck pain.
Looking back at all the crap we been skydiving/BASE jumping with, my neck wold be in a better condition if RED released the Epic years ago :-)

blue skies
